Welcome to Cumbria Primary Teacher Training!
Would you like to train to teach in the beauty of the County of Cumbria, with the Lake District on your doorstep?
Cumbria Teacher Training is a partnership between Cumbria Primary Teacher Training and Western Lakes Teaching School Alliance offering Primary and Secondary Post Graduate Certificates in Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The Primary Course PGCE with QTS involves teaching children aged 3-11 in a wide range of good and outstanding schools in West Cumbria. The PGCE, delivered and accredited by Sheffield Hallam University, offers sixty credits at Masters’ degree level (approximately a third of a masters’ degree.) However we recognise that the needs of all learners are different and therefore the course is designed flexibly to allow multiple exit qualifications.
The Secondary Course PGCE with QTS involves teaching children and young adults aged 11-16 (with experience of teaching 16-18) in wide range of good and outstanding schools around Cumbria. The PGCE is studied in conjunction with the Primary Course, so is also delivered and accredited by Sheffield Hallam University.
The great advantage of our courses is the fact that they are directed by head teachers of local schools. Who better to ensure that the learning provided meets the needs of future teachers? This also means that all our schools are completely committed to your learning; they are not just taking students on placement; they run the course! We are small courses by design, only recruiting a select number of trainees each year. This small number means that we can offer individualised learning programmes and support to everyone on the courses to an extent that is impossible on larger courses. We are confident that we offer a friendly learning experience of the highest quality and we warmly invite you to contact us and find out more about our Cumbria PGCE with QTS programmes.
